February 2008: Blessed are the available…
Max Lucado has written an excellent book entitled “The Applause of Heaven” which gives an inspiring and thought provoking look at the Beatitudes. His premise for the book is that God intends for us to experience true joy in our lives, despite the challenges and disappointments we ultimately face along the way. Lucado peppers the book with countless examples of people whose lives have been changed by remaining steadfast in their faith, always looking for the good side of life, trusting that God will see them through the worst of times. God has our best interests in mind and encourages us to remain faithful so that we may find real joy.
One of the ways that God brings joy to my heart is through the network of people and churches who help sustain our ministry. Your part in praying and giving to make our ministry possible is an encouragement to us. The reality is that we cannot do this work alone; the world is too big for us to try and meet every need along the way. For now, we pick and choose those projects that we think will have maximum impact in sharing Christ as we have opportunity. And we move forward each day, knowing that you are behind us.
Max Lucado summarizes quite well the appreciation we have for your role in our ministry. He wrote:
“Blessed are the available. Blessed are the conduits, the tunnels, the tools. Deliriously joyful are the ones who believe that if God has used sticks and rocks to do His will, then He can use us.”
Thank you for being a ‘conduit’ of support for our ministry. You truly bring joy to our hearts!
